PEIGHTONO’HAIR

Hey, I’m Peighton, and I'm an art education major. My work revolves around rekindling childlike wonder, creating work that invites others into a playground of whimsy.

My work is rooted in childlike wonder, the kind that allows us to see the world with playfulness, curiosity, and possibility. I want create spaces that invite viewers to slow down, look closer, and experience joy in a way that feels both imaginative and intentional.

I am drawn to the belief that wonder is not something we outgrow, but something we can always return to. My aim as an artist is to create art that surrounds the viewer in warmth, offering childlike whimsy not as something naïve, but as something deeply powerful to hold on to.

Looking back, what advice would you give yourself?

The dinosaurs we drew in 3rd grade paid off!

What's your favorite A+D memory?

This is tricky! But I must say one of my favorite A+D memories is studying abroad and getting Eduardo’s gelato with the cohort almost every single night was one of the favorites for sure!

What was your favorite A+D class?

What moment, project, and/or critique in your Art + Design career at AU has been pivotal to who you are as an artist or creator?

A pivotal moment in my journey as an artist came when I considered leaving the program because I doubted myself. I was immensely blessed with the encouragement and support of the art and design community around me, I found the persistence to keep going and learned that art could be a space where I belong.

What's next for you?

I hope to be an art teacher that continues the practice of creating and teaching the next generation that art class can be where they belong too.

How do you hope your work makes an impact?

I hope my work inspires a sense of playful discovery, a safe space where imagination can be felt again.
