As a designer, I believe design isn’t a singular thing: it’s a kit of parts and a journey. Taking the necessary steps to connect with the people I’m designing for, diving into research surrounding the projects at hand, and developing conceptual depth to strongly communicate the messages for brands, companies, and communities. My personal design practice consists of extensive research in order to better understand contexts and assimilate imagination, incorporate hands-on, tangible creation pieces and empower those I’m designing for, all while establishing beauty and connection in unexpected ways. Design is a craft, creative disciplinary practice, spiritual calling, collaboration method, and passion that drives my purpose.
Looking back, what advice would you give yourself?
Be right where your feet are. Don't look too far ahead or mull over things of the past. Be present and work hard at the things that are important to you.
What's your favorite A+D memory?
Some of my favorite memories were made in the studio late at night when my design friends and I would stay up working and laughing.
What was your favorite A+D class?
Advanced Two design was my favorite class! We were able to explore creative practices that we wouldn’t typically lean into and discover what it is that we believe design to be in relation to what we’ve learned and who we are..
What moment, project, and/or critique in your Art + Design career at AU has been pivotal to who you are as an artist or creator?
I’d say Senior Symposia allowed me to explore and define what design is to me personally which was pivotal to how I now approach creating.
What's next for you?
I am working as a part time designer at Newspring Church on the Creative team!
How do you hope your work makes an impact?
Every time I create a design, I hope it catalysts a lasting impact in the way it brings people together for common goals and purposes.
