My practice of design exists alongside play and 3D making. I’m an artist, a painter, a photographer, a sculptor, and a Play-Doh ceramicist. I believe all ideas are good ideas, and that gives me space to dream big dreams and make them happen. Then, dream bigger! My goal is to create from a place of wonder, stay curious, and design from a reckless love for people. Through design, I believe we recognize the glimpses of Heaven before us.
Looking back, what advice would you give yourself?
I would have encouraged myself to work in the studios more frequently. The community, feedback, and memories are so worth it (even if the project takes a little longer because you get roped into shenanigans).
What's your favorite A+D memory?
One of my favorite A+D memories was when our senior cohort hosted a Friendsgiving with all of our classmates and professors. Everyone brought their favorite Thanksgiving dishes, and it was such a great time to be together, eat delicious food, and just enjoy each other’s company.
What was your favorite A+D class?
I loved Methods of Ideation. It transformed the way I pursue the stages of creative projects and taught me to just keep breaking boundaries to soar to new heights without fear of failure.
What moment, project, and/or critique in your Art + Design career at AU has been pivotal to who you are as an artist or creator?
Aaron Lee Benson’s exhibition and artist talk were truly transformational compounding on my learning from Advanced Design 2. His shared testimony and perspective solidified a peace in me that craftsmanship is central to who I am and what I’m called to do.
What's next for you?
After graduation, I’m moving to Greenville to work with Dapper Ink as an Associate Graphic Designer.
How do you hope your work makes an impact?
I hope my work encourages people and my vibrancy for creativity cultivates an atmosphere of worshipful making.
