I believe that design is not just about making something look good — it’s about making sure the message is clear and connects with people. I am able to let people connect and understand something just by looking at it, whether it’s a layout, an image, or even just color and type. I think that’s what makes design such a powerful communicator, it blends creativity with strategy. Every decision is planned out, it has a purpose, and together those choices help form what I’m trying to communicate. Design gives me a voice and allows me to communicate with others through a visual language.
Looking back, what advice would you give yourself?
I would tell myself to be more confident in myself and my design work. To stop overthinking my decisions and trust my instincts more.
What's your favorite A+D memory?
My favorite A+D memory was during Type Res, we ordered pizza and had floor time.
What was your favorite A+D class?
Advanced Design Studio 1
What moment, project, and/or critique in your Art + Design career at AU has been pivotal to who you are as an artist or creator?
I would say during Brand Identity. When that class started, I had no clue what I was doing, especially at the beginning of the rebranding project. But I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and, through a lot of trial and error, I made a project that I’m really proud of. Now when I’m designing, I try to embrace the struggles and remind myself that trial and error is a big part of the design process and that working through challenges is what leads me to the best possible solution in the end.
